10 Ways to Look After Yourself

In this day and age, we are sometimes too busy to look after ourselves. Juggling work, family, trying to get our five a day, drink two litres of water and get an hour of exercise can be hard. Here are our top tips to looking after yourself.

 

1.Eat Well

Needless to say, we need to eat to stay alive. However, food can have an effect on your energy levels and mood, so make sure you eat a balanced diet. Foods such as vegetables and pasta are reasonably quick to prepare and delicious to eat, so you don’t have to spend hours slaving over a stove.

2.Drink Water

Your body is needs water to work efficiently. Drinking water is the easiest way to get water into your system. It is recommended that you drink about 2 litres of water a day, but water comes in many forms. You get water from drinking tea or coffee, eating fruits such as watermelon or vegetables such as cucumbers.

3.Work Out

If you find that you’re always too busy to work out, why not work out where you are? You can use office furniture to work out or walk to the shop rather than driving. You don’t need to be in a gym to get a good work out, you can use what you have around you. Working out will help you feel fitter, happier and healthier.

4.Morning Meditation

Meditating is a great way to destress and take time out for yourself. Meditating in the morning will start your day on a calmer note, which may help you stay calm during the day.

5.Sleep

Whilst waking up early to meditate may sound difficult, if you get enough sleep, it won’t be so hard. Sleep helps your body to recuperate and heal, your body will feel better after a good night’s sleep.

6.Journal

Keeping a journal is a great way to note down your feelings and ideas. Writing at least one positive thing, or something that you are grateful can help you feel happier and more positive.

7.Unplug

If you spend a large amount of time in front of the TV, on your phone or on your laptop, you may need to unplug for a while. Taking an hour or so a day without any technology can free up some time for you to spend doing something for yourself such as taking a nice bubble bath or reading a book.

8.Quality Time

Spend time with your family and friends. Having a healthy social life will help you feel happier and loved. Being around the people you love may make you feel more content and lively.

9.Hobby

Find a hobby that you enjoy. Spending time, doing what you love will make you happier. It will give you a chance to meet other like-minded people and give you something to look forward to.

10.Give yourself Praise

It’s easy to beat yourself up about the things that are not perfect in your life. Remember to praise yourself for simply being you.
